Page Updated for carpet cleaning Brisbane FAQ’s
Q. How often should my carpet be cleaned?
People with allergies and Asthma should clean the carpets about every 6 months.
Vacuuming alone will not do the trick. Professional cleaning is the key to killing dust mites which is the number one cause of allergens in the indoor environment. A professional carpet clean needs to be done about every 12 months or so.
Q. How about a Carpet Protector?
A carpet protector is strongly recommended as it can prevent many permanent stains and will make future cleaning more effective. Please refer to my Blog post for more information.
Q. How long will my carpet take to dry?
Drying time depends on some variables such as the thickness of pile and fibres, the weather conditions and the air circulation – factors such as humidity and ventilation play a part in drying time. We use a drying method that takes approximately 2 hours if conditions a favourable. Please remember however that wool carpet is roughly 5 to 6 times more absorbent than synthetics therefore takes 5 to 6 times longer to dry. This is a condition of the fibre and not our fault.
Q. What if I have Allergies?
The sprays we use are safe and non toxic and are fine for kids /pets / and people who have allergies and please remember that we have an extraction process that removes these treatments and takes them back to our van for proper disposal.
Q. How do I treat spills and stains?
First scoop up any solids that have been spilled. Then blot the area with white towelling. Place carpet solution onto the towel and blot over the stain, be careful not to smudge the spot.
Q. What are the pros and cons of using carpet protectant (like “Scotchguard”)?
Cons • Not an organic, natural product.
Pros • Forms an invisible shield, like a sealant, around each fibre
• Repels liquid spills
• Helps carpets last longer
• Protects your carpet investment
• Helps make carpets easier to care for
• Dries quickly and leaves no odour
• Is non-toxic, CFC- and solvent-free and is safe for family and pets.
Q. Do you work weekends?
Yes, we carpet clean all around Brisbane 7 days a week. Saturdays and Sundays are rarely a same day service however and need to be booked in and planned ahead.
Q. What type of Cleaning do you do?
We specialise in Carpet Steam Cleaning or Hot Water Extraction as this by far is the most thorough and complete method of removing dirt, allergens and contaminants from your valuable carpet.
Q. What can I do to keep my carpets clean?
If wearing street shoes, use entry mats to remove most of the dirt upon entering the house. It’s better to remove your shoes on entering. Treat spills and accidents (from pets or people) immediately. Please invest in a quality vacuum cleaner and use it regularly also as dry soils and human / pet hair will be removed substantially.
Q. What do I do after my carpet has been cleaned?
Immediately after cleaning: Floors can be a little slippery so please allow a couple of hours for drying. We recommend that you wear clean socks so as not to transfer body oil and soiling on the fresh carpet. If possible use air conditioning to dry the carpets or open windows and let the air circulate. Do not place wooden based furniture or metal furniture onto damp carpets. Permanent or difficult to remove stains may occur.
Q. Why should I have my carpets professionally cleaned?
Carpets and fabrics not properly cleaned and maintained have the potential to cause a variety of health problems. Professional carpet cleaning improves the indoor air quality of your home or work environment and it extends the life of your carpet.
Q. What is the difference between a spot and a stain?
A spot is a substance food, grease, dirt etc that has adhered to the carpet fibre but has not become set. Spots are most likely removed by a professional carpet cleaning service. A stain is more advanced and may have become set, requiring additional treatment or may even be permanent.
Q. Are our carpet cleaning products safe?
We use Non-toxic carpet cleaning solutions that are when extracted and rinsed thoroughly from the carpet safe for babies and pets. By extracting and rinsing our cleaning products thoroughly anyone with environmental illness or sensitivities should be OK. We also offer straight hot water extraction cleaning for people who want NO chemicals used whatsoever.
Q. Why do some stains reappear after time?
Usually they are new stains. This occurs when drinks containing sugar, such as tea, coffee or soft-drinks are spilt into the carpet. Once dry, the sugar becomes sticky and begins to collect dust and dirt over time, making it appear that the stain is coming from underneath the carpet. Sometimes there may be a problem with a stain wicking back up through capillary action from the base or backing of the carpet. Depending on the fibre type we usually can help with this situation.
Q. Are all stains removable?
No, not all stains are removable. Sometimes to remove a stain we would cause more damage. You have to know what battles to win! This comes through experience.
